Late to the Game

You’re a little late to a show you didn’t want to go to. You walk into the theater, stumbling in the dark. The curtain’s closed on act one. You think about waiting for the stage lights to come up.

They never do. The theater is empty. Everyone’s left. The production ceased. You scream, “Anyone there?”

Nothing answers, letting you know you’re never alone.
